Why beagles shake themselves often you ask? We shake full body immediately after meeting a new dog, after ending a play session and after returning from a walk. I mean the same shake we do when we get out of the water. The reason is simple - it is a re-set mode for us. This shaking dance is anti-stress dance. :)
I usually shake after wrestling with another dog. Check next time at the playground, when playing ends, both dogs will do the full body shake. Play might end completely after the shake and both can simply walk off to find something new and thrilling. Or, they can continue playing. In many cases, the body shake is ending signal to find next activity.
