Three different Beagle barks - how to I speak?

I guess I will start with the fact that most Beagles will not be silent dogs. We enjoy saying out what we think and we can do it in three different ways. Usually I make a standard bark at daily things:

  • when I want attention,
  • when they leave me home alone,
  • when I am distressed,
  • when somebody comes to visit,
  • when I can't get my toys,
  • when I protect my home,
  • when getting a new treat,
  • when old ladies walk towards me,
  • when I see plastic or garbage bags.

Second, I am howling if I am sad or bored. Third, I make a throaty yowl to alert others I found a target or its smell. In general, there is always a reason for me to make sound. I bark when I am happy, excited, angry and scared.

What is funny fact is that at the puppy school my teacher said it is not normal if a dog tells the owner when is the correct time to go to pee. The more I looked around I saw it is common for us  Beagles to notify our people of our issues. I have my ritual:

  1. I sit correctly on one spot and yawn constantly.
  2. If this does not work I start to whine or bark.

Night at the hospital

These last days have been hard for me. I spent my night at the hospital and it turns out I have a bone pice in my tummy. At first they took blood samples but I did not want to stay there and give it so I made half of the doctors table bloody. Didn't work though and they still took what they needed. I tried to escape Xray table too so in the end there was 3 people holding me against the table. Awful!!!  I also did not like to sleep there IN THE CAGE but the medicine they gave me made me feel less pain and my inflammation markers went down too. I am sure they were planning to keep me there for one more night but my people came to rescue me. We even got to go for a long walk and after one more Xray I could go home. I can sleep at my place again :) I still have one more Xray in the morning but I don't think they will make a surgery because already today the pice was smaller. I really need to be fine tomorrow because I am organizing a party on Saturday and I am not going to mi...

Do Beagles like water?

Made by Irene Ranneva When I was little I hated water, even small shower was total pain. I always thought it is a punishment. but after half a year I started to tolerate it. I don't enjoy it but I realised the less I struggle the faster the whole circus is over. Made by Irene Ranneva After the shower I head right for the nearest sofa and roll like mad. I think my mum is not that big of a fan when I make the whole sofa wet but she started it. I don't think I need a shower at all but she seems to wash me every time after rainy walks or muddy digging. The weirdest time was when I rolled in a liquid poop and she was washing me 5x in a row. Sometimes it is so hard to understand her.. At least a  nice snack follows this procedure and these things I like, so I think we have found a half compromise.  Made by Irene Ranneva Even though I don't like taking showers that much I love the sea. Although, most beagles really don’t like water and are...
